RASA is the sole developer and steward of the Polar Selective Agent.
The Polar Selective Agent enables molecular separation under conditions where conventional methods fail economically. It does not rely on elevated temperature, elevated pressure, or bulk chemical reaction. PSA operates at ambient conditions, integrates into existing industrial systems, and is not consumed in the process. This allows materials that are technically known but economically unreachable — including trapped oil, bound hydrocarbons, and contaminated solids — to become commercially viable.
RASA develops, owns, and advances PSA science, and deploys the Polar Selective Agent through direct operations and structured engagements with asset owners, operators, institutions, and sovereign entities worldwide, while retaining stewardship of the PSA capability and how it is deployed.

Work with RASAIn 1989, the Exxon Valdez ran aground in Prince William Sound, spilling 11 million gallons of crude oil into Alaskan waters. The cleanup was slow, destructive, and incomplete — relying on dispersants, hot water, and mechanical skimming that caused further environmental harm while recovering only a fraction of the oil.
Watching the disaster unfold, Dr. William Wismann asked a different question. What if oil could be separated from its environment — without harm? That question led to the invention of the Polar Selective Agent.
Dr. David Martin was commissioned to evaluate Wismann's breakthrough. His foundational work on the hyperpolarization of matter provided the theoretical framework that explained how PSA functions at the molecular level. That meeting began a partnership that has now lasted more than thirty years.
Together, Wismann's invention and Martin's science formed the basis of everything RASA does today.
Inventor, Polar Selective Agent
Dr. Wismann's career as an inventor began in the early 1980s with the founding of Protofab, an engineering and design firm developing technologies across petroleum, chemistry, and manufacturing. Over four decades, his work has spanned industrial separation, environmental remediation, and materials processing. The Polar Selective Agent represents the culmination of that work.

Dr. Martin's work spans dynamic atomic and isotopic systems for diagnostic, interventional, and surveillance applications. His research in magnetic resonance dynamics led to industry-changing advances in radiology, interventional medicine, and intelligence gathering. His mathematical innovation describing the hyperpolarization of matter provided the theoretical framework for PSA — and remains the scientific foundation of RASA's technology today.
For those with a background in physics or mathematics, this text presents the mathematical and physics foundations behind PSA.
